Question time for another Tri-City-Athlete
Another of our energetic
staff has kindly answered some of our questions and we'd love to
share the chat. Meet Sid Castle.
Why are you taking part in the Tri-City-Athlon?
Have always wanted to take part in a triathlon, due to being one
of sports greatest challenges this will be quite amazing to do, not
only will I be taking part in my first one but it will be the first
tri city event done of its kind as well.
What do you think will make this event special?
1st event to take in 3 different counties on the same day.
Which is your favourite leg of the event and why?
The cycle, due to being an avid cyclist competing most weekends
in many different events - BMX, mtb (mountain biking) and time
trails racing.
Which is your least favorite leg of the event and
why?
The swim, it is something which I have never really done or
wanted to do but now with three young daughters learning to swim it
is now time for daddy to learn.
What if any sporting events you have competed in
before?
The Tough Guy challenge, an 8 mile country running race with a
twist, the course has been designed by a former SAS trainer who
believes that only the toughest should apply….
More facts about Sid
Anything to do with speed I like, motor sport, skiing, flying or
any kind speed event to the point where I nearly had my name in the
Guinness book of records but the Americans just beat me to it when
setting a new land speed record on a mountain bike. But biking is
my sport, on BMX, mtb (mountain bike), road or time trail bike I
love it and have since the age of 2 years old.
So when I am not training, there are the kids, my 3 beautiful
girls, Ysabella, Imogen and Yasmine they are wonderful and very
supportive of daddy when he is racing until something else catches
their eyes, the big climbing frame or the ice cream van ………….
I am also a watch manger for the Kent fire and rescue service in
our village so the fitness I gain from my sport interest does cross
over into this role.
Sid's training update
After hearing I was one of the lucky one's to gain place on team
E*, things have not gone quite to plan. This in main was due to
being knocked of my bike while biking home from work. So it has
only been in the last 2, 2.5 weeks I have really been able to get
back into full training.
So the latest news from Sid camp is that, the bike is good, the
trainers are clean and ready for running and the swimming well what
can I say...It's hard work.
