Lionel Benbassat

Biography of Lionel Benbassat:

My name is Lionel Benbassat, I’m 33 years old, and I’ve been working at Eurostar for six years, currently in the position of director of sales and marketing, Eurostar France.

I wanted to get involved in the Tri-City-Athlon, because it’s a unique sporting event and because I really believe in the values inspired by sport. It’s an activity which involves motivation, managing energy reserves, personal development and training a team – all things that are also important in the world of business.

I like the fact that these values are present at Eurostar, and I strive to apply them in my work, and instil them in other people, too. I’m not going to say that it’s easy, but they do say that a real winner isn’t necessarily someone who succeeds every time, but rather someone who can pick themselves up quickly after a setback.

I think that the idea of having a European competition is a good one. The fact that this is a cross-border event which enables us to share key moments with our Belgian and English neighbours shows that we are living in a new generation. And this is something we should welcome with open arms.

I am proud that I’m involved in this European event and I’m sure that we’re going to be impressed by the performance of those taking part. Good luck to everyone!
